Program Overview of Fully Funded R-IH Summer Internship 2025 in Japan
Hosted by the Guardian Robot Project (GRP) at RIKEN, this internship aims to cultivate the next generation of robotics researchers. Participants will engage in advanced research projects, gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic environment.
Internship Periods
- Long Stay Program (Type A): July 24 (Thursday) – September 19 (Friday), 2025
- Short Stay Program (Type B): August 21 (Thursday) – September 19 (Friday), 2025
Both programs culminate in a presentation of achievements on September 12 (Friday).
Eligibility Criteria
The Fully Funded R-IH Summer Internship 2025 in Japan is open to a limited number of undergraduate and graduate students, both from Japan and overseas, who meet the following criteria:
- Enrollment:
- Applicants must be enrolled at an academic institution at the time of application and maintain their student status throughout the internship period.
- Affiliation Restrictions:
- Students from universities with existing collaborative research agreements with GRP (e.g., Kyoto University, Doshisha University, Nara Institute of Science and Technology) are not eligible to apply.
Application Process
Interested candidates should submit the following documents to robotics-info@ml.riken.jp by March 24 (Monday), 15:00 JST, 2025:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV): Use the RIKEN format.
- Motivation Letter: Free format, specifying:
- Desired research team
- Research theme
- Preferred program type (A or B)
- Research Achievements: Document any prior research experience or accomplishments.
Shortlisted applicants will undergo a web interview, with final selections announced in early April 2025.
Financial Support
The Fully Funded R-IH Summer Internship 2025 in Japan provides comprehensive financial support, including:
- Travel Expenses: Coverage of one round-trip airfare or bullet train fare, depending on distance.
- Accommodation and Daily Allowance: A daily rate of JPY 11,100 for accommodation and a daily allowance of JPY 2,400.
