Course Overview
The Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Hons) - ODL at MAHSA University is a 4-year undergraduate program designed to equip students with essential skills in rehabilitating patients with neurological, cardiorespiratory, and musculoskeletal disorders. Graduates are prepared for diverse roles in physiotherapy practice, community health centers, rehabilitation centers, and hospitals.
Program Structure
- Year 1: Foundational courses in functional and applied anatomy, communication, professional development, exercise therapy, electrotherapy, and initial clinical exposure.
- Year 2: Intermediate studies covering manual skills in physiotherapy, applied anatomy and physiology in neurology, physiotherapy practices in musculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory conditions, research methods, and clinical practice.
- Year 3: Advanced topics including physiotherapy practices in neurology, musculoskeletal conditions, women's health, pediatrics, geriatrics, clinical reasoning, evidence-based practice, and community work.
- Year 4: Specialization in physiotherapy practices in sports and occupational health, completion of a research project, elective placements, and extensive clinical practice.
Entry Requirements
- Pass Matriculation/Pre-University/STPM or equivalent with a minimum GPA of 2.33 in two of the following subjects: Biology, Physics/Mathematics, Chemistry.
- Pass A-Level or equivalent with a minimum Grade D in two of the following subjects: Biology, Physics/Mathematics, Chemistry.
- Recognized Diploma with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 in a related field.
- Recognized Diploma with a CGPA less than 2.75 in a related field and a minimum of 3 years (36 months) working experience in the related field.
- Other qualifications equivalent and approved by the Government of Malaysia.
- English proficiency: MUET Band 3/IELTS (5.5)/TOEFL (550) for local students; IELTS (5.5)/TOEFL (550) paper-based or equivalent for international students.
