Course Overview
The Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) (Artificial Intelligence) at Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) equips students with the skills to design and develop systems utilizing artificial intelligence techniques such as machine learning, fuzzy logic, and natural language processing. Graduates are prepared for roles including Artificial Intelligence Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer, and Data Analyst.
Program Structure
- Year 1: Introduction to networking, systems software, databases, Python programming, systems analysis and design, integrated computer systems, fundamentals of entrepreneurship, digital thinking and innovation, mathematical concepts for computing, introduction to artificial intelligence, and object-oriented programming.
- Year 2: Innovation process, research methods for computing and technology, systems and network administration, system development methods, object-oriented development with Java, web applications, concurrent programming, computer systems low-level techniques, data structures, programming for data analysis, AI methods, and imaging and special effects.
- Internship: A 16-week industrial training to bridge academic learning with practical experience.
- Year 3: Venture building, project management, investigations in artificial intelligence, algorithmics, user experience, advanced database systems, text analytics and sentiment analysis, image processing, computer vision and pattern recognition, further artificial intelligence, optimization and deep learning, and a final year project in artificial intelligence.
Entry Requirements
- STPM: 2 Passes in Science stream with minimum Grade C (GPA 2.0) in Mathematics and one Science or ICT subject.
- A-Level: 2 Passes (Grade A-D) in Science stream with a Pass in Mathematics and one Science or ICT subject.
- UEC: 5 Grade B Passes in any subject including Mathematics and one Science or ICT subject.
- Foundation/Matriculation: A pass with minimum CGPA of 2.0 with a Credit in Additional Mathematics at SPM/IGCSE/O-Level or its equivalent.
- English Requirements: IELTS 5.0, TOEFL IBT 40, Pearson (PTE) 47, or MUET Band 3.5.
